Hoya macrophylla is a stunning tropical vine known for its long, twining stems and waxy, green elliptic leaves that are adorned with distinct veining and white margins. Under stress, the leaves may flush with pink hues, adding a touch of color. This variety occasionally produces large clusters of night-fragrant, waxy white or pale pink star-shaped flowers that rebloom multiple times on the same stem spur, so it’s important not to remove them.
As a low-maintenance plant, Hoya macrophylla is ideal for hanging baskets, trellises, or support poles, thriving both indoors and outdoors. It thrives in warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light, especially during the growing season from late Spring to Fall. Regular misting, watering, and fertilizing will help it flourish, but in winter, water less frequently and allow the soil to dry out between waterings. To ensure healthy growth, keep the plant in a location above 55°F (13°C), as lower temperatures may stunt its growth.
